Canon EOS C300 Receives BBC Broadcast Approval

Canon’s EOS C300, first model from the new Cinema EOS System, has been approved for HD Canon_Shot_2_Fire_Escape_Male_088_FINAL
broadcast production by the BBC. Also, Charles Montesin will now leads the Professional
Video section at Canon Australia as Brand Manager.

The BBC’s approval allows internal and external BBC production teams to use the EOS C300 for the production of programming to be broadcast on the BBC’s range of HD channels. The EOS C300 is the third professional camcorder from Canon that the BBC has approved since January 2011 when the XF305 and XF300 Full HD camcorders were approved.

The Canon EOS C300/C300 PL is a digital video camcorder available in two models. The EOS C300 is supplied with an EF lens mount compatible with the over 60 lenses that comprise Canon’s interchangeable EF lens line-up. The EOS C300 PL has a PL lens mount compatible with the standard PL lenses. The camcorder features an approximately 8.29-megapixel CMOS sensor - equivalent to Super 35 mm - suitable for digital cinematographers.

As well as incorporating Canon’s expertise in sensor and lens design Canon, the EOS C300 was built to be a compact camera with very high image quality and flexibility to shoot in diverse situations. The Cinema EOS System now has seven new 4K EF Cinema Lens models - four zoom lenses covering a 14.5 mm to 300 mm zoom range - two models each for EF and PL lens mounts - and three single-focal-length lenses for EF mounts. All seven lenses capture at 4K, or 4096 x 2160 pixels, and are compatible with Super 35 mm-equivalent sensors. The three single-focal-length lenses can also be used with cameras equipped with 35 mm full-frame sensors.

Canon Australia’s new brand manager Charles Montesin for the Professional Video division, is set to manage a portfolio covering the HD video-equipped EOS digital SLR cameras through to the Cinema EOS System for motion pictures and broadcast.Charles will be giving particular focus to the Cinema EOS System, and commented that Canon has received a very high level of interest in the EOS C300 in Australia following the launch last year.
