PRG TruColor HS Lights Render Accurate Colour

Production Resource Group’s new TruColor HS lighting system for film and television PRG-trucolor-hs-light-lab
produces accurate, vivid colour rendering across the visible spectrum.

The volume of light produced can be nearly twice as much output as a 2K soft source without substantial heat, flicker or noise. TruColor HS fixtures use ChromaLit remote phosphor panels, designed and built with Intematix LED phosphor supplier. Accurate, consistent colour rendering has been achieved at a wide range of colour temperatures. Light spreads evenly from the HS fixture at nearly 160º with a single soft shadow. The TruColor HS can output up to 100 fc at 10 feet, providing an 25,000 lumens while consuming less than 450 watts.

TruColor HS was also made specifically to meet motion picture and broadcast standards. Remote Phosphor Technology, RPT, may help eliminate the typical colour-accuracy limitations of LED fixtures. Instead of relying on LEDs as the source of illumination, TruColor HS' independent phosphor panels emit high-quality light when excited by the high-frequency wavelengths from blue LEDs.

Similar to CRT screens found in television sets, RPT employs a transparent surface carrying a phosphor coating. These phosphors are excited at two precise wavelengths, in this case with LEDs completely separated from the phosphor substrate, resulting in very stable high-CRI white light.

Colour temperature remains consistent throughout the lifetime of the fixture, because the phosphors are not subject to heat degradation, unlike typical white LEDs. Color consistency fixture to fixture is also guaranteed, because it’s easier to accurately coat the phosphor material onto a substrate instead of directly onto a diode. Interchangeable phosphor panels allow a variety of colour temperatures with a single fixture. www.trucolorlighting.com  www.prg.com.
