Explore the unique style and avant garde artistry of Awarding winning duo Montalbetti+Campbell, whose images are recognised and sold internationally and are represented in the Permanent Collection of the National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery of Australia. Gay Campbell was named the 2007 Canon/AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year. She has shared the award with her husband and business partner, Denis Montalbetti, as they work as a team in creating every image.

World-renowned retouching studio Electric Art shares rare insight into the visual solutions it has provided for some of Australia's most high-profile print campaigns. From the early 'teeth whitening' days of retouching through to producing entire campaigns in 3D, this team are pioneers in print post-production. A giraffe up a tree? A city you can read? A crowd surfing babe made of water? Inness Robins and Bruce Bigelow take you through their more challenging briefs, revealing some of their magic and showing you how they stay at the top of their game.

Get the full story on creating HDR environments for virtual reality, industrial design, special effects and video game applications using the REALVIZ HDR Imaging Studio. Learn how you can start from digital snapshots and create panoramas, then directly export them as environment maps in your favorite 3D package. VTour 1.2 HDR now also enables digital content creators, for the first time ever, to add depth information to their HDR environment maps for Spatial Image-Based Lighting (SIBL). Dominique Pouliquen graduated from Ecole Superieure de l'Ouest, Angers, France, and holds a Masters of Sciences in Engineering. He has more than 22 years experience in Computer Graphics. Prior to founding REALVIZ, Mr. Pouliquen headed the Visualization Department at Sogitec, a subsidiary of Dassault Aviation, one of the world's leading aircraft construction companies. One of Australia's leading fashion photographers, Peter Collie has placed Apple's Aperture at the core of the digital workflow at his Surry Hills, Sydney studio. Collie provides an intimate look at the tools and techniques he utilises to create the stunning images that have appeared in magazines such as Photo, American Photo, Black and White, West East, New York magazine, Vogue and many more.

Benjamin Storrier

Benjamin Storrier, Technical Director at Mondo Digital, outlines the benefits of an on-line system when working with large volumes of imagery. Organising the distribution of images and receiving feedback from a design team spread out across Australia or the world can be difficult and confusing. Sydney studio Mondo Digital has solved this (and many other problems) using its custom built on-line gallery software, the Mondo Gallery.
Mondo's clients work together in an online forum to discuss images, make selections, and submit retouching instructions - dramatically shortening the entire production process from shoot to press. With a brand new studio and post-production facility now in place in Sydney’s Waterloo, Mondo Digital is making available its brand of high volume digital imaging production to a wider market.
Mondo Digital is the digital photographic service arm of renowned photographer Grant Matthews’ Mondo Group. Matthews and Technical Director Benjamin Storrier have developed a complete capture-to print solution fine-tuned to high volume commercial print production.
A professional photographer in his own right, Benjamin Storrier started in the industry working as Grant Matthews Photographic Assistant in 1998, and together they have developed to workflow and infrastructure for Mondo Digital. Over the past few years, Storrier has continued to investigate new ways to streamline the process of digital photographic workflow, examining technological and procedural systems and software with the aim to enhance the way the digital photographic industry operates.

Michael Britt

A digital assignment shoot can easily generate more than a thousand images. These high volume jobs require a focused plan that ensures all components in the digital chain can work together seamlessly. Michael Britt demonstrates the workflow that his company Image Mechanics has developed while working on high pressure campaigns for some of the most demanding clients in the industry. Learn how to apply analogue film techniques to a digital workflow and how to effectively use Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom as primary capture tools. Whether shooting tethered or to CF cards, with thoughtful setup, this workflow can cut several hours off post-production time. Learn the secrets that Michael and Image Mechanics use to effectively process and deliver thousands of images a day.

Adrian Treahy

Expression Studio is a suite of design and media applications from Microsoft aimed at developers and designers. Microsoft has had applications for the web design industry for a number of years but is it only with the release of the Expression Studio suite that there is now a real, and powerful alternative to the Adobe Creative Suite. No expense has been spared to develop and integrate of this suite of applications for the Creative and Media industries. Expression Studio consists Expression Design, Expression Web, Expression Media, Expression Blend and Silver Light.
Adrian Treahy will shed some light on the Expression Story with a particular focus on building a professional DAM backbone with Expression Media. He will demonstrate the power of this application and show how it can integrates with your current application suite to deliver a bulletproof workflow. Adrian has worked in the communication industry for over 20 years. He has worked as a professional photographer, in design education, and worked in interactive marketing for leading Australian and transnational organizations such as ninemsn, DDB, Rapp Collins and The Commonwealth Bank. Adrian is currently the founder and CEO of Gekko Images a leading professional user-generated content web business servicing professionals from around the globe.

Mark Watson

Come on an action-packed ride with one of Australia's premier extreme sports photographers, learning the unique technical and creative demands of recording death-defying activities in the wild. Mark Watson was seven years old when he first picked up a camera and many would claim it has not left his hands since. The passion for the subjects he photographs is evident in his images and Mark has become one of Australia's foremost adventure sports photojournalists.

Steven Stahlberg

Discover how to create convincing humans in CG, with a focus on the female and how to maximize "attractiveness" in a way that is also applicable to men and non-human creatures. Internationally renowned digital artist Steven Stahlberg has been working to build virtual female characters since 1996. Born in Australia and raised in Sweden, he is now working in Asia as a sought-after visual artist. His 3D illustrations have been published on many renowned specialised books and magazine. Steven Stahlberg gives a detailed insight into the process of creating digital imagery of women, both technical and creative - from idea and anatomy to modelling and shading.

Michael Britt

As managing partner of the LA-based full service digital capture company, Image Mechanics, Michael Britt is working at the leading edge of digital technology. An impromptu photo show in the 4th grade set the stage for a life devoted to the craft of photography. He worked in film and television, shooting unit stills and galleries for more than 10 years and served as a computer consultant for renowned photographer Michael Grecco. At Image Mechanics, he was instrumental in developing the company’s revolutionary digital capture workflow and continues to brand its unique style. As a workflow specialist, Britt consulted on Aperture and wrote the manual for Adobe Lightroom. He has lectured widely and often speaks at industry events. In addition to the Lightroom manual, he has written articles for PDNonline and contributes to several online communities including the Image Mechanics Blog - DeathToFilm.com.

Inness Robins

Inness is among Australia’s leading retouchers. He is highly sought after by clients not only for the techniques that he has developed over years of experience but for his unique ability to create polished and perfected print images. Inness graduated from the University of Western Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts and Design, majoring in Illustration, in 1995. He won a student award and used it to travel through to Europe for 12 months. On his return, he commenced a career as a freelance illustrator, airbrushing images in the pre-digital days. He has been a retoucher at Electric Art for nine years.

Philip Andrews

Philip Andrews is a photographic professional who is consumed by two passions—making great images and showing others how to do the same. In the last year, Andrews has demonstrated and lectured for Adobe, Hasselblad, Focal Press, Sony, TAFE and the Australian Police and Fire Brigade forensic photography departments. He has conducted hands-on workshops for students at a range of levels from beginners to post graduate students, and has been involved in designing and writing more than 15 nationally accredited courses.

Gay Campbell and Denis Montalbetti

Denis Montalbetti and Gay Campbell are world-renowned for their photographs of a wide range of personalities, from political leaders to celebrities in both North American and Australia. They are also known for their stunning and distinctive style. They have received numerous awards and substantial industry recognition. Among these is the inclusion of their work in the prestigious Communication Arts Photography Annuals (USA), American Photography Annuals (USA), a Gold World Award at the New York Festivals Advertising Awards (USA), and their acceptance into the widely acclaimed FUJI ACMP Australian Photography Collections.

Bruce Bigelow

Bruce is Creative Director & Partner at Electric Art. He began his creative career by studying Industrial Design at Sydney College of the Arts. He has worked as an Art Director designing audio visual for corporate events, and as a freelance designer in the early days of desktop publishing designed annual reports for Heywood Corporate. Bruce ran the design department at David Graphics where he perfected his knowledge of pre-press and typography. He commenced as a retoucher when he joined Electric Art as a partner in 1993. About six years into a thriving business, Bruce realised the potential for 3D technology in print media and set up the first 3D for print service in Australia. His willingness to experiment with new technologies has seen him excel throughout his career.

Les Walkling

Les is an artist and educator. Les has exhibited widely including his retrospective show ‘So to Live as to Dream’ at the National Gallery of Victoria in 1990. His work is represented in many public collections including the Center for Creative Photography, Arizona, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the National Gallery of Australia. Les is the Media Arts Program Coordinator at RMIT University where he teaches fine art photography at the School of Art and commercial photography in the School of Creative Media.

Mark Watson

After receiving a Bachelor of Scientific Photography from RMIT University, Mark pursued his passion for capturing the essence of true 'adventure' sports, whether it required hanging off a rope, swimming through a canyon or lying in the snow.
