Mondo digital unveils Web Gallery

The digital work-flow arm of the Mondo Group, Mondo Digital, has developed a Web-based user interface that is claimed to revolutionise the way in which creative teams manage images. The Mondo Digital Web Gallery is designed to help facilitate effective communication between creative teams who can be online simultaneously accessing hero shots for editing and re-touching.

Sydney’s Mondo Group aims to create the ultimate one-stop-shop for digital photographic professionals and clients, with state-of-the-art equipment hire, a newly opened purpose built studio and extensive back-end systems including multiple archive options.

The Web Gallery is claimed to streamline the onerous task of postproduction by up to 10 days, by means of an interactive online drawing tool that enables each team member to mark up any changes directly onto the image, alleviating any need for longwinded written instructions and time consuming backwards and forwards of comments and approvals.

Elizabeth Wilmott, Creative Director of Working Girls Advertising, said “Using Mondo’s web gallery keeps our production time for a shoot really short – it keeps things fresh and spontaneous – and that’s what fashion is all about. And because I’m a visual person, drawing on my images using the retouching mark-up tool allows me to give my instructions in a very natural way”

Currently this process revolves around a small number of pre-selected hero shots that then can be accessed through the Web Gallery, however with the imminent improvements to high speed broadband due to the introduction of supportive Government regulations, Mondo Digital will soon be able to expand the number of images uploaded, to include every shot taken during the shoot day (approximately 250 shots or 12,000 images).

More than just a simple FTP download system, the Web Gallery is the brainchild of Benjamin Storrier, Technical Director of Mondo Digital and photographer in his own right. Utilising his experience as a professional photographer, Benjamin has designed it to be practical and usable on a detailed and systematic level, making the typically complicated and time consuming process of post-production simple and streamlined.

The Mondo Web Gallery is aimed at photographers, advertising creative teams, fashion and product shoots, and extending to areas such as film set photography, and any instance where large amounts of photography need to be managed efficiently.
“Even with most photography now being shot with digital cameras – we’re still only scratching the surface in terms of workflow. Our new gallery system stands to revolutionise how photographers work with their clients,” said Storrier.

The Mondo Group was established by photographer Grant Matthews in 1998. Mondo Group’s clients cross advertising, fashion, editorial and publishing, having worked with EziBuy, Saatchi and Saatchi for David Jones, Singletons for Myer, Vogue Magazine, In Style Magazine, Josh Goot for Target, the Witchery Ovarian Cancer Campaign and Drizabone Japan to name a few.
