Storm FX Distributions has extended its Autodesk reseller authorisation to include
Autodesk Smoke software for Apple Mac OS X.
Smoke running on Linux has been in use as a finishing tool in postproduction facilities and film studios for some time, integrating with the other Autodesk effects and compositing tools Flame and Inferno. Smoke running on the Mac platform has a considerably lower price, potentially bringing the same finishing tools into television broadcast environments.
Smoke for Mac has a comprehensive toolset for 2D and stereoscopic 3D tools spanning editorial, colour correction, paint, cleanup, titling, 3D compositing, finishing and mastering. Sitting alongside Final Cut Pro and Media Composer creative editing systems, and working natively from the same media files, Smoke for Mac OS X is suitable for conforming completed timelines via EDL, XML and AAF files. Using its 3D compositing environment, promos and teasers can be finished on one system by natively combining multiple layers of 2D and 3D graphic and text elements, adding lighting effects and adjusting camera positions.
